Day One... Spirit Doll Workshops - Prayer Sticks

Hello friends... I'm listening to the seagulls as I make this post this morning. Even though it's been mostly raining... it has be absolutely beautiful here at Birch Bay.

So, here are some pictures of our first day.... PRAYER STICKS
Lili of Joyfull Essence, is auditioning a collection of feathers and trims, tuning into the Chakra colors.
And Brigit, of Brigit's Beauties, is measuring and cutting lengths of fibers....

We were SO FOCUSED! very little conversation was going on.... really, a BLISSFUL way to create!

Lili is adding some beautiful crystal beads to her Spirit Doll face.
And here are our three Prayer Sticks.... Mine is on the left, Lili's in the middle, and Brigit's on the right.

Bliss... after a happy day creating!

My kind of vacation....

Ah... after the over-the-top month of December, both for creating art and SELLING art in my shop, Boulder Creek Antiques and Art, hubby and I are here at Angels Camp, enjoying five days of just peace, quiet, and art work.

I just started another of Joanne Sharps Journaling classes. "My Awesome Life, 2014". A year of journaling. This page is off topic, but my intention is to create art, not to sell, but as an act of prayerfulness. Thus I decided to do a layout of the Buddhist "Loving Kindness" meditation.
I LOVED picking up the watercolor brush! It's been about two years since I played around with watercolors. Ah... the delicious feeling of a brush loaded with drippy, saturated, color!

I started out yesterday by sketching and painting the undercoating of a sunflower painting in acrylics. This is a painting I'm doing with the intention of selling.... but, I'm trying to get away from the push of producing 'sale-able' art. The Art Journal is dedicated to ME... just for me... for my own pleasure. (Not sure I'm all too comfortable with that concept.)
This is just the under-painting.... much more to do. But I got kind of bored and switched over to my art journal. Is there a message there? hmmmm

Writing, Sewing, Painting, or Posting...OH MY!

It's kinda like trying to pat your head and rub you tummy at the same time. I love having inspirations! and I love creating... just can't do it all at the same time!

Here, you see my latest Diary of Faces painting

Oh... and this has been keeping us somewhat busy.... sweet hubby is creating a sewing room for me... I can't possible sew and craft and paint in the same small studio! lol.... that now stands for Lucky Old Lady! Thanks honey!!

Two Days in Big Sur!

I'm loving it! Spent just two days in Big Sur, Kirk Creek, overlooking the ocean. Worked on my book (almost done now) and a bit of art.
My 'art room' view....
Here's my campsite at Kirk Creek....
Just down the road, spent the day surf-side!
